Pete Benson

Pete Benson is author of The Polyamory Handbook: A User's Guide, a complete guide to all aspects of poly life, for those wondering if polyamory would be good for them, up to those with lots of poly experience who occasionally run into a puzzle about how best to proceed. The book covers polyamory for the single, couple, and multi-adult family; communication techniques; issue resolution; ethical considerations; sexual hygiene; legal concerns; and more.

He has decades of experience with polyamory, since well before the term was coined. He has lived in a quad as well as poly dyads with various poly configurations. He is co-founder of 3 local poly groups and has been active at the core of each of these. He has led workshops for the Loving More annual conferences.

He presently lives with his primary partner, Deborah Carney-MacFarlane, in Eugene, Oregon.
Marty Huelsmann Jr.

Marty hails from Cincinnati, Ohio. Raised in a Catholic environment, his spiritual growth was tempered by a matrilineal connection to his Cherokee heritage. An early connection to nature began his shamanistic journeying.

His sexual awakening began late in college. Although his spiritual nature always made him different from the other boys, it wasn?t until college that he began to embrace the fact that he was a homosexual. His attempts to maintain being ?straight? lead him to marry his best female friend. The marriage was an open marriage from the start, which lead them to discover the world of polyamory. His wife left the marriage in 2002 to go live with her boyfriend, his girlfriend and his girlfriend?s boyfriend in Lexington, Kentucky.

Having moved to Louisville Kentucky, he was welcomed into the Unitarian Universalist churches where he was a former member of CUUPS (Covenant of Unitarian Universalist Pagans), past president of Interweave (a LGBT organization), fifth grade religion teacher, Board Member and on several committees.

His dating life has brought him to become a collared submissive and a member of the Louisville Trailblazers (a Leather & Levi club). He is also part of the 'Bear' community.

Since attending events at Our Haven, he has become a priest in the Qadisti path of sacred touch, a minister with Tri-State Holistic Congregation, and is attempting to learn fire spinning in his free time.
